Introvert, Extrovert or Ambivert? Understanding What Makes You Thrive…

For years, I thought I was a full-on extrovert…facilitating group discussions, energising rooms, training change content & always in the spotlight. But after diving into self-awareness, I discovered I’m actually an ambivert, I enjoy blending the best of both introvert & extrovert worlds.

Corporate life as a coach, trainer & facilitator leaned heavily on my extroverted side, but by the end of the day, I’d feel completely drained. As a solopreneur, I’ve learned to balance my energy by understanding my natural tendencies & designing a life that works for me.

DISC: Understanding My Natural Tendencies

One of the most enlightening tools I’ve used is DISC profiling, which helped me uncover my ISC pattern:

💛 Yellow (Influence): My natural energy to connect with people, inspire & build relationships

💚 Green (Steadiness): My love for harmony, stability & creating a safe, supportive space

💙 Blue (Compliance): My need for structure, precision & following clear processes

Each DISC trait has an associated colour, making it easy to visualise & connect with your strengths:

❤️ Red (Dominance): Focused on results, driven & assertive

💛 Yellow (Influence): Energetic, people-oriented & persuasive

💚 Green (Steadiness): Calm, supportive & dependable

💙 Blue (Compliance): Detail-driven, precise & process-focused

For me, understanding my DISC pattern explained so much:

  • My yellow side shines when I’m working with clients, creating trust & connection

  • My green helps me nurture a safe space for transformation

  • My blue ensures I create clear, actionable plans that clients can follow confidently

DISC isn’t about labelling…it’s about understanding what makes you tick & using it to thrive!

NLP: Coaching Myself First

When I started learning NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), I became my own first client. NLP helped me uncover what energised & drained me, plus most importantly, how to reframe my thinking to honour my unique needs.

One of the biggest shifts was reframing my perspective. Instead of asking, “Why can’t I always be ‘on’?” I started asking, “What do I need to feel balanced & effective?”. NLP gave me the tools to navigate my energy, set boundaries & show up as my best self.

Self-Awareness: The Key to Thriving

Whether you’re an introvert who thrives in quiet reflection, an extrovert who comes alive in groups, or an ambivert like me, self-awareness is everything. Here’s how you can lean into your strengths:

🔥 Introverts: Schedule regular quiet time for deep focus & reflection
🔥 Extroverts: Build in opportunities to connect & collaborate with others
🔥 Ambiverts: Pay attention to what energises & drains you, then create a balance that works for you

This is your #SelfAwarenessJourney. Life isn’t one-size-fits-all…it’s a custom fit, designed by you.

Your Unique Blueprint

Tools like DISC & NLP are here to help you uncover your natural tendencies, but they’re not boxes to stay in…they’re tools to celebrate your individuality.

For me, discovering my ambivert balance helped me design a business that aligns with my energy & values. Let’s focus on #PurposeOverLabels & embrace what makes you uniquely you.
